I wrote this poem for my friend Gil Rampy’s painting, featured here, of the Oval Gallery, part of his Kentucky Heritage Center. Great painting, Gil!

Un poème écrit pour le tableau ci-dessus, de mon ami Gil Rampy, représentant la Gallerie Ovale de son Kentucky Heritage Center. Un beau tableau, Gil!
Peek-a-boo, here I
go inside no house of war-
ship, that’s for certain
though I’m spied on
words begun with w:
marooned or wreckless
walls and windows through
which lazy sunlight’s lied
about in hammocks beaming
like a way the sailor grins,
wide, wind and woolgather –
wicked or wise a gang to been
cahoots with, who’s known it?

Love from Grandma Ruth
Nice pieces both. The painting makes me think of Philip Guston, who was friends with the poet Wm Corbett.
I don’t know the KY Heritage Center…I’ll have to vist it when my travels take me there next.
