Hans Arp Addendum: Jean Arp addendum
My father noticed an appealing gender-driven ambiguity in Hans Arp’s “Moustache Hat” (see previous article), in addition to the visual ambiguities I discuss:
“I am trying to figure out if the hat is intended only for males, because of the mustache idea. But I keep seeing a woman in there, with eyes, and a bouffant style hairdo. It must be the wig I guess.”

Mon père a remarqué une ambiguïté de plus, de genre cette fois, que je tiens à ajouter à mon analyse du “Chapeau à moustache” de Jean Arp:
“Je n’arrête pas de me demander si ce chapeau n’est destiné qu’aux hommes, à cause de l’idée de la moustache. Mais j’y vois sans cesse une femme, avec des yeux et une coiffure style “bouffant”. Ca doit être à cause de la perruque, sans doute.”
